Good old memory

28th Sept 2008 (Shanghai) Sunny, 24c - After having farewell dinner with one of the malakai yesterday, today decide to go out to some place for lunch. Then decided to goto qibao then I has been not going there some time, probably about 3 months time after new Carrefour has open close to where I stay right now. Everything still same old street and nothing being change, ground floor still having KFC, ichido, Italian restaurant and of cost my beloved coffee Starbucks. Temperature has been drastically drop since Thursday night, which still reporting about 29c and now is just merely about 26c at the afternoon and 21c at night. Autumn is coming

Order a cup of recommended vanilla flavor coffee and it suddenly trigger me about the milk that they serve. I think this become the first question should ever ask when eat out at china: What type of milk serve. Just glance have a glance of local newspaper, it stated: white rabbit candy are off the shelf. Whoever I think was born at 70s should has a great remembrance of white rabbit candy. It is like part of your golden memory and now they are telling you that is toxic! Sometimes it does not matter of a person or company, if you either leave a legacy otherwise will be down to memory lane.

Starbuck coffee at Shanghai has given me something special. Fan” 扇子”.

Anlene Milk I Bought at Shanghai Carrefour

After hearing and watch a lot of news report about baby begins dead cause by contaminated milk that fill with melamine, I was a bit skeptical about the milk I bought from Carrefour last Saturday (20 Sept).
‘More than 1,250 babies are reported to have fallen ill after drinking baby milk produced by the San Lu Group, which is 43 per cent owned by Fonterra. The milk was contaminated with the toxic chemical melamine. At least two deaths have been reported. – from efluxmedia’
It turns out to that scare me to dead that it printed at the bottom of the pack stated ‘Prepack by San Lu’. I has been purchase and consume Anlene milk at Shanghai for so long, the reason is the milk should be ‘100% imported from New Zealand’ (as printed at the pack). After ‘Melamine’s Milk Scandal’ I have some thought and question.

1. Since the news only cover about infant that could kill but adult will not be affected. How true is it and how many similar cases has happened? Any doctors, official report or scientific data prove that it does not have impact to adult or at least what is the symptom.
2. Recall those product is happen on the dealer but is there any news that to request consumer to return to any station? Should the government to put a more stern action about recalling product if they really value people live and mind their citizen. Not slogan but actions do speak louder than words but it did turn out to be ‘mind your own businesses.
3. Did it really solve the problem after firing 4 officer and the boss of San lu after the scandal explode to the world or should we said by happen any repeated case and the person should be get fired only. Also how many people get fire just because to cover this type of scandal. Is there any legal action taking against the company and person accountable? Scapegoat or dummy. Driving a Cardilac make you look like a rich man but when you are at jail there is nothing for you and they should serve milk for life! “The firings included the vice mayor in charge of agriculture, Zhang Fawang, and the director of the city's food and drug watchdog, Zhang Yi, as well as chief officials for animal husbandry and quality inspection. – from Stuff.co.nz”
4. San Lu is subsidiary of Fonterra, suppose there is and audit every year about product quality, finance, management and ext. Is this really carried out professionally? Also this type of product was supposing send to local authority lab for analysis, did the local authority carried out their job as the slogan stick on the wall? Fonterra said all products were using 100% milk from New Zealand then why announce a recall?
5. New Zealand government has well understood and knowing what has happen about this issue, why it did not make it lawsuit case direct to company if there is no recall begins done? Fail to act or slow to act. It only begin to do something after China local authority failed to act, which is quite suspicious about it.
6. Who is really responsible for this case? Fonterra, San Lu’s Boss, Local authority, New Zealand government, professional body that carry drug test? That is not important any more, people has die and scarify for this bunch of people to get rich that do not have any meaning to them. Civilize, ethical or honest all this word should remove from dictionary and should not be taught at school. Is it the failure of education that not able to educate us?
7. Info about what is melamine http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melamine.

Nokia E-series E71

14th September 2008 (Sunday) – Decide to grab E-series handphone to replace my pretty old handphone Sonny erricsson Z550i, which has been with me for more than 2 years and still going very healthy. This phone normally use to keep my local line activate when I am aboard. Reason of replacing it due to the need of GPS functionally (just to sure that I am not lost) and also looking for a phone with keyboard for the ease of input short note.
After all, I do much research through the net and look for something that interesting, end up leaving only HTC diamond or Tync II, Samsung i900 and iPhone, Nokia communicator or E71.
First thing first, HTC diamond has the highest build in RAM and ROM but it does not has builded in keyboard. HTC Tync II, overall is a very well build phone with everything build in it and even touch screen was part of it but weight and overall dimension was at the downside. I do not want to put a brick like handphone in my pocket but still the overall function surpass what in my list. Samsung i900, design by Korean. In my opinion, this is something like apple iphone ‘wannabe’ type and the phone operate with window mobile 6.1. Operating system was build by Microsoft, which is very comprehensive and there are a lot of third party application, which allow you make your phone become ‘Superphone’ (and the user I assume is Superman…hahaha). It also build with 8GB or 16 GB build in memory, there are also expendable slot to support up 16GB external memory. Again, I am looking a phone with keyboard. Apple iphone, design by apple. I red a review from other site about this phone is just a matter of expensive ipod with phone function even with 3G & GPS. It just feel too plastic-ky for this phone and not so solid feel about it but not denying that the application was well build and impressive. Nokia communicator, another brick liked phone. It is so obscene when you slot in your pocket and when people look at it. On contrary, this phone does build with keyboard and having a bigger screen in it class but just too bulky; this should not consider as a phone.
Then end up I grab Nokia E71. It does not have torch screen or operate by WM6.1. It is just like a normal phone that with keyboard attached and 110MB build in memory but the package that come with it impress me very much. In the package it included 2GB micro SD, pouch, wrist strap, stereo headset, battery and charger, USB cable.
After I install nokia PC suite to synchronise my outlook and all contacts just within a few second! Mechanically, the phone was build with stainless steel for the front and back cover. Keypad was as usual a QWERTY keyboard. The phone operate with 1500 mah battery and Symbian S60 that could keep pretty long time for people on the go. Picture quality taken from build in camera was far behind expectation (as I has red some review stated camera was awful) and nothing to shout about. Indeed, the picture do look gain-ny for both indoor and outdoor.

Below is some of the picture taken by using E71.
